The 2010 Bible Students General Convention is online with audio/video and pdf presentation files and photos.
I think it's really exciting and very modern of them to be able to put their conference online so quickly and even do a video feed of the program.
Some of the topics are interesting... that said, I am having a hard time accepting anything that's quoted from the "reprints" or that "the Pastor" said or published.
While on Facebook I've noticed that the Free Bible Students are more open to anyone who wants to fellowship and that the General Convention crowd seems for the most part, very distrusting and sort of a closed association, not "close" as in very warm and caring of one another but rather "closed" as in distrusting of outsiders. Why is that?
There's a lot that reminds me of the Watchtower Religion when hearing the talks and exchanging comments with the General Convention goers, but the Free Bible Students remind me more of Born Again Evangelicals.
I think the Free Bible Students are more to my liking so far, they love singing and music and praising Jehovah this way and I loved that. The talks aren't as dry as the General Convention. But there are a lot of similarities otherwise, and probably have brethren who attend both conferences.
But perhaps most ex-JW's would have an easier time fitting in with the crowd at General Assembly than the Conference of Cristian Believers at Gordon College, in Wenham MA, in a few days in August.
Maybe I haven't met enough Bible Students of all kinds to really make a fair judgment of them as a movement and as a group to fellowship with and maybe I'm way off track, but from the exchanges I've had and from the limited fellowshipping I've enjoyed that's the picture sketched on my mind.
If you visit the link below and listen to some of the talks please mention your thoughts.
With Christian love,
