In my view . . .
In the briefest definition imo:
*Human rights are God-given by birth.
*Civil rights are man-given by law of a particularly society (social rights) as by "civilization".
Human rights (natural):
The right to natural food, clean air, love, sex, marriage, bearing children, shelter, the pursuit of comfort, health and security. The right to earn a living to support your family. The word "nature" and "natural" come to mind.
Civil rights (controversial):
The rights by human LAW of a society:
Protection by civil/social law for so-called freedom of speech and press (without regard for whether it offends others), protection from social and economic bias based on race, gender, age, policial or religious views, etc. Also, rights that protect "citizens" from other "citizens" for such things as "inadmissible evidence" against criminals on trial, "entrapment" to establish guilt, etc.
In Jesus' day, a slave might have "human rights" but not what we might regard as "civil liberties."
I think there are more than a few "civil liberties" that would not be recognized as "human rights" by Christian standards.
Does that explain?
Blessings,
